How Engineering Simulation Can Be Used to Improve Reliability

The development of spacecraft including satellites and rockets requires the highest reliability and no room for failure, even though spacecrafts are exposed to extreme conditions such as temperatures ranging from ultra-low to very high temperatures, for instance.

Ansys, a leading provider of multiphysics simulation, has acquired AGI in 2020, the developer of STK, a mission engineering and trajectory analysis software. In 2022 Ansys also acquired C&D Technologies, a provider of Thermal Desktop, the de facto standard tool for thermal and fluid analysis in the space and satellite industry. Ansys keeps on expanding its product portfolio in the space development field.

In this seminar, we discuss wide ranging topics from digital mission engineering of space missions, thermal and fluid analysis of space crafts, the effects of radiation and reliability evaluation of electronic board assemblies in space, as well as the mechanisms for integrating such simulation techniques in the development process by building a digital thread.
