DX is Essential for Defense Industry
Digital Engineering for Mission Success
Event Date : June 15, 2023
Japan has decided to increase its defense budget significantly, and is required to develop defense equipment such as small unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) and missiles to deal with hypersonic glide weapons. In addition, to strengthen its defense technology base, faster development and reduction of development costs are required.
The U.S. defense industry, which boasts the world’s leading technological capabilities and scale, is pushing “digital engineering” as part of its digital transformation to develop new defense equipment and capabilities faster. In particular, “mission engineering,” which simulates the actual operational environment as a “mission” is attracting more attention. In recent years, the U.S. Department of Defense’s 2020 “Mission Engineering Guide,” outlined the engineering methods required to accomplish design goals.
The first part of this seminar will provide an overview of “digital engineering” methods and the latest trends in this field. The second part in the afternoon will focus on “mission engineering” and will introduce simulation cases of actual cross-domain operations spanning land, sea, and air, as well as optical solutions centered on electro-optical and infrared (EOIR), and physics-based simulation techniques that can be used in the development of next-generation fighter aircraft.
Advance registration is required for the seminar, however, Ministry of Defense and Defense Acquisition Agency personnel are welcome to join the seminar on the day. Simultaneous interpretation receivers and lunch will be provided for the translation sessions. So, If you already know, please register in advance.
