Lt. General Iwanari was in charge of procuring aircraft, warning and control systems, and missiles at various supply deports for the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF).
He also worked as an aircraft engine cost analyst for the F-15, P-3C, CH-47, and T-4 at the Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Agency (ATLA) headquarters.
Iwanari participated in the FSX (F-2) development program as a contractor, cost analyst, and production control manager. In regard to FMS, he participated in the F-4EJ, E-767 AWACS, and KC-130 programs.
