BAE Systems plc is a British multinational arms, security, and aerospace company based in London, England. It is the largest defence contractor in Europe, and ranked the seventh-largest in the world based on applicable 2021 revenues. As of 2017, it is the biggest manufacturer in Britain.
Women Allied in Defense
The British Embassy Tokyo graciously offered to host the Women Allied in Defense reception at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Tokyo on May 24, 2023. It marked the second meeting for the Women Allied in Defense initiative since its launch in March 2023.
Hosted by Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Helen Smith and Counsellor for Defence, Security, Cyber and Aerospace, Ms. Susan Oliver, the reception welcomed 70+ professionals in the defense and security industry. Distinguished guests from eight countries, professionals from academia to the military, from small business to corporations to government agencies.
Embassies represented include Australia, Denmark, France, Kenya, Netherlands, New Zealand, the US and UK.
Japanese companies such as Fujitsu, Kanto Aircraft, Mitsui Bussan Aerospace, NTT, Warpspace.
Foreign companies such as BAE Systems, Cheltons Consulting, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, MBDA, Pratt & Whitney, Reytheon Intelligence & Space, and Rolls Royce.
The first two women defense attaches from Japan ever to serve overseas underlined the progress being made and the challenges ahead.
Ms. Louise Dalgliesh, the Women’s Performance Pathways Coach of Japan Rugby Football Union gave a very motivational speech based on her experience of coaching women’s rugby teams.
